The Smart Way to Remove Soot Stains Out of Fabric

Soot stains are quite difficult to remove mostly due to their dusty and oily substance. Thus, it involves a more heavy and smart approach. But not to go overboard, you also need smart tips to make the cleaning worth it. This is why I always turn to natural remedies. So, check out these effective methods. Whatever you choose, make sure you take the smart way when you are cleaning soot stains.

1. First of all, shake it off

Before acting on it, you should shake it off. Thus, get that stained fabric and gently shake off any excess soot. But shake it carefully so that you don’t make the stain bigger or spread the soot around any more than is necessary.

2. Rinse with cool water

Now that you shook it off, rinse the fabric with cold water to remove the stain. Turn the fabric inside out and rinse it with cool water to get as much of the soot stains out as possible.

3. Soak it overnight

One efficient method would be to soak it overnight. You can soak your fabric in laundry detergent. Fill a bucket with warm water and add laundry detergent. If you cannot wait for all night to let it work better, you could soak it for at least six hours. That is if the soot stain is not that big.

4. Hot water also works

If you want to bring more effort to the table, you could wash the soot stains with hot water, also use bleach for color safe fabrics.

5. Dab with a DIY solution

Another efficient method would be to dab the soot stain with a DIY solution. You can prepare this solution by mixing 500 mL of cool water and one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Dip a clean white rag in the solution and wring out the excess. Then dab the washcloth on the soot stain repeatedly until the stain comes out.
