All housewives know that there are some stains that seem impossible to clean off clothes, sanitary items, and more. These include rust stains, which until some time ago the only way to get rid of such a stain on your coat or favorite T-shirt was the scissors. But, no, you don’t have to cut the stain off your clothes, or even throw it. Just use some clever tricks and the rust will be gone from your clothes.
How to get rid of rust on your clothes
The rust stains on clothes are some of the hardest to remove. That’s why we have some effective solutions that you need to apply as soon as you find the stains.
Solutions for recent rust stains on clothes
If rust stains on cotton fabrics are recent, they disappear if you act immediately and wipe them with a clean cloth soaked in salty water, and then rinse with plenty of cold water. Then wash the clothing item with warm water and detergent and rinse thoroughly.
Another option to get rid recent rust stains is milk. Put the stained clothing item to soak in raw milk for at least 30 minutes, and then let it dry in the sun for several hours. You will see that rust stains are fading, and in order for them to disappear, you just have to wash the garment with a high quality detergent and rinse well with cold water.
Lemon removes old rust stains
If the rust stain is older and seems impossible to remove, then you need “the heavy artillery.” For this purpose, you need a concentrated solution based on lemon juice:
-the juice of 1 lemon
-1 tablespoon of salt
-a few drops of water
Squeeze well the lemon to extract the lemon juice, and add the salt. You can add a few drops of water for the salt to dissolve better, but only if necessary.
Now, soak the stained area of your clothing item in this solution and let it act for several hours, and then wash fabric like usual.
